Our Initiatives
Child Abuse Prevention Awareness
Child abuse prevention is central to R.O.C.K. Mat-Su’s mission and is essential to creating a community where every child and family feels safe and supported.
Raising awareness helps normalize conversations about child safety and reinforces that protecting children is a shared responsibility—an important form of systems change.
The purpose of this initiative is to increase community motivation and collective responsibility for preventing child abuse in the Mat-Su Borough by fostering meaningful, year-round participation in child abuse prevention awareness events and activities.
Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
Every child deserves to grow up safe and supported, and it is our shared responsibility to ensure that adults and communities have the knowledge, tools, and relationships needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to child sexual abuse.
This initiative aims to build a community-driven movement in Mat-Su that prevents child sexual abuse through coordinated awareness campaigns, accessible training opportunities, and actionable strategies that empower adults to protect children and create safer environments.
Early Relational Health
Strengthening early relational health lays the foundation for children’s emotional and developmental well-being, enhances caregivers’ confidence, connection, and mental health, and builds family resilience by buffering against stress.
This initiative supports our shared goal of preventing child abuse and fostering safe, nurturing environments. Its purpose is to promote early relational health by fostering nurturing, emotionally supportive relationships between young children and their caregivers, thereby advancing healthy child development, caregiver well-being, and resilience within families.
Family Contact Improvement
High-quality, meaningful family contact fosters resilience, strengthens parenting skills and confidence, and supports long-term family stability and overall well-being for both children and their families.
This initiative aims to unite community partners to ensure that families and children in foster care are able to engage in meaningful, healthy, and culturally centered contact that prioritizes the best interests of the child.
Shared Community Learning
Lasting change begins with shared understanding. When communities learn together, they build the trust, insight, and collective power necessary to address root causes and create a more just and supportive environment for all.
This initiative aims to foster shared community learning in the Mat-Su by bringing people together to explore complex issues through dialogue, collaboration, and community-driven action. By supporting collective impact efforts and shifting mental models, the initiative strengthens the community’s capacity to work across sectors, align around common goals, and create meaningful, sustained change.
