Braided Stories: Building Equitable Communities for Alaska’s Children & Families

Understanding and addressing historical and intergenerational trauma is critical to achieving R.O.C.K. Mat-Su’s vision that all children are given the opportunity to thrive. This workshop was developed specifically for Mat-Su communities and in deep partnership with local individuals and organizations and features the experiences of both contemporary and historical Mat-Su residents using multi-media formats. Participants are encouraged to move in to explore systemic racism, and to move out to reflect, restore and process the emotions that may come up. Learn more at braidedstories.com

Stewards of Children® Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training

Child sexual abuse is likely the most prevalent health problem children face, with the most serious array of consequences. The foundational Stewards of Children® workshop is two-hours in length and uses real people and real stories to show you how to protect children. Additional training modules are available that address talking with children about safety, healthy touch, responding as a mandated reporter, bystander interventions, and commercial sexual exploitation. Look for a free upcoming public workshop, or contact R.O.C.K. Mat-Su to schedule a training at your location.

Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences & Trauma Sensitive Practices

Frequent or prolonged exposure to stress can create toxic stress, which can damage the developing brain of a child and their overall lifelong health. Free workshops are offered to adults who are interested in learning how to identify and counteract Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and develop resilience. Workshops are typically 90-minutes in length, but can be customized to your needs. Look for a free upcoming public workshop, or contact R.O.C.K. Mat-Su to schedule a training at your location.
